Draymond Green, Charles Barkley throw verbal jabs before the game

Charles Barkley and Draymond Green were back at it, doing something they’re both very good at – talking and throwing verbal jabs.

Before Game 2 tipped over between the Warriors and Mavericks on Friday night, Green was miked during pregame warm-ups.

“Dray why do you kick the ball in warm up and never in game?” Barkley asked.

“I’ll shoot if I have to, Chuck,” Green replied. “I shoot when I have to, when I have to win championships.”

Green is notoriously a poor scorer, averaging just 8.7 points per game in his career, but his contributions to defense and the attitude he brings to the team make him invaluable to Golden State.

“Even Chuck, you’re not going to keep snapping at our fans,” Green said, referring to a vulgar exchange Barkley had with a fan. “They won more than you, big dog.”

Barkley responded by saying that he would keep hitting fans and that they could get as much smoke as they wanted.

“They have more rings than you, Chuck,” Green replied.

Barkley, of course, never won a championship in his playing career, while Green and Golden State won three in four years between 2015 and 2018.

“Hey, I know they do, but they need to get back to their lives. I’ll go home and be Charles Barkley,” Barkley replied. “I’m going to feel pretty good about my life.”

“You have a pretty good life. I want your life too, Chuck,” Green said.

On the court, meanwhile, the Warriors recovered from 19 points behind in Friday night’s third quarter, beating the Mavericks 126-117 to complete the third-biggest comeback in playoff history and take a 2-0 straight lead.
