Dragons ‘Den fans all say the same thing as Peter Jones’ calls £2,000 ‘one night out’

Last night’s episode of DURING’s Dragon’s Den, which marked the return of the BBC show, Peter Jones caused a stir among viewers by calling £2,000 a “night out”.

The first person to face millionaire Peter Jones and his bronze dragons was the duo Edward Hancock and Richard Simpson from London.

The hopeful couple, who have been friends since their teenage years, were on Popular BBC program to secure money for their cheese business, Cheese Geek.

The company offers both a one-time purchase and subscription box of the fine white product, and Edward and Richard offered a three per cent stake in the luxury company for an investment of £100,000.

They believe this will make Cheese Geek the “dominant brand” in the UK cheese industry and beyond.

After some conundrums from the other dragons, it was Peter Jones’ turn to roast the boys (toastie pun intended entirely), and he was unimpressed.

As the jury giggled, Peter said: “I must say, your worth is more refined than your cheese.”

The boys sneered as he continued, “Why did you come in here at such a ridiculous valuation?”

Edward, who has described himself as a “numbers guy”, justified their valuation, adding that he had personally invested £720,000 in the business.

“Yes, it was a pretty crazy thing to do,” he admitted.

It went on and on after that and Peter finally scoffed at the numbers, saying there was no chance for him to see a return on an investment higher than £2,000.

“It’s not profit, it’s a night out,” says big cheese.

And Twitter has lost track of the plot, with one viewer writing: “£2k for a night out! Need to go to a party with these! ”

A second person, who felt the same way, added: “‘£2,000, that’s not profit for a night out’ – you’re going out with Peter Jones for a night full of pockets”.

A third chirped: “Wish someone took me out for a night out with that! With this said… any chance of a night out”.

And a Disgusting Quaternary commented: “So when Peter Jones says £2,000 is a ‘evening out’ – when the same number is probably what most people would pay to heat a house theirs in 2022 – I’m absolutely appalled by such cynical comments!”
