BORUSSIA DORTMUND have confirmed they are on the lookout for a new striker, with Erling Haaland ready to leave this summer.
Manchester City and Real Madrid are there leading the hunt for the Norwegian assassin who has a £64m release clause in his contract.
Dortmund haven’t given up hope of persuading the 21-year-old superstar to stay and are ready to give him all the time he needs to make a decision.
Dortmund’s professional football boss Sebastian Kehl said there were no deadlines – but the hunt for a new target man was on.
former Germany National player Kehl said: “We hope to make progress in the talks we are having internally to bring in a striker.
“This is important for our planning.”
The marksman has scored a staggering 80 goals in 81 games for the Bundesliga giants, who are keen to keep his services.
If he moves to the Spanish capital, Madrid will become iconic goodi says Haaland’s arrival would help his old club manage veteran striker Karim Benzema’s minutes.
The former midfielder added: “Benzema is great but look at his age.
“Hopefully he lasts longer but he’s his age and if you can rest him in games and use Haaland instead, so much the better.”
They will try to stop Man City who are reportedly ready to make the Dortmund man the highest paid player in the Premier League.
The city is believed to have put together a salary in excess of £500,000 a week.
