Doctor Yue Yu insists that she used Drano to purify, not poison

The California dermatologist, who was caught on nanny camera allegedly pouring Drano into her husband’s soda, used the chemicals to unblock pipes – and the man fabricated the poisoning allegation as part of a custody battle, according to her attorney.

Yue “Emily” Yu, 45, was arrested last week after her husband Jack Chen accused her of repeatedly spiked his drink with the caustic drain cleaner. As of Friday morning, Yu was released on bail and has not been charged with a crime.

“The notion that my client, a 45-year-old distinguished dermatologist in Orange County, would destroy her life and that of her children and attempt to kill her husband is simply utterly preposterous and untrue, and beyond that defamatory,” attorney David Wohl said to CBS Los Angeles.

Chen’s attorney claimed that the husband, who works as a radiologist, allegedly documented his wife pouring Drano into his hot lemonade drink on three separate occasions at their home in Irvine.

But Wohl insisted that Yu actually used the cleaning solution to clear a drain. He added that the nanny cam videos actually showed the woman pouring the drano into an empty cup to keep it from spilling.

“Every time she poured Drano into a cup, it was completely empty,” said the lawyer. “It should make it easier to use in the sink or any other part of the house that was clogged as far as the drain.”

Chen claimed he noticed a chemical taste in his drink and had been diagnosed with several health issues including stomach ulcers in recent months.

Wohl stressed that Yu never put drano — or any other chemical — in Chen’s drink, saying, “That’s completely untrue.”

The lawyer further argued that Chen dreamed up the poisoning allegations because he was “desperate” to divorce Yu and gain custody of the couple’s two children.

“We strongly believe that these claims that he has made are all part of that effort,” Wohl said.

Chen said through his attorney that he noticed a chemical taste in his soda and was diagnosed with stomach ulcers, gastritis and inflammation of the esophagus.

Last week, Chen filed papers with a court seeking a restraining order against his 10-year-old wife.

He claimed to have been abused by Yu, which included physical and verbal abuse of her children — and even claimed she once yelled at them to “die.”

“When Emily is frustrated and yells at the kids, she usually uses a Chinese phrase that translates to ‘Go die!’ She also tells the kids, ‘Your head has a problem’, ‘Your head is sick’, ‘Fuck yourself’, ‘Fucking idiot’, ‘Stupid a-hole’ and ‘Get out of the way,'” wrote Chen in the court document obtained by the Post.

Yu even deprived the children, who are now 8 and 7 years old, of sleep if they went to bed before she wanted to, Chen claimed.
