Despite protocols, Thunder knocks out the Pelicans by 5

OKC was not immune to the Covid wave that hit the NBA. Before their competition with the Pelicans, the Thunder discovered both Darius Bazley and Tre Mann were involved in health and safety protocols.

On the floor, OKC had a big youth movement in their game with the Pels. Aaron Wiggins and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl both start. Aaron Wiggins made the most of it. He took home a big first-quarter blip from Josh Giddey. Giddey failed to score a single point, but racked up a brace with 10 assists and 10 rebounds. He’s the second player in NBA history to do this without scoring a single point.

It was part of a 15-0 Thunder run, but in the third round, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander kept the Pelicans in the bay with a big trick. The SGA took 31 points and in the process, James Harden overtook James Harden for the eighth most points in the Thunder uniform.

In the fourth inning, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl hit a treble to give OKC a six-point advantage. JRE has 15 points.

The game was set in ice when Giddey found Wiggins in a slam dunk. Wiggins had a career-high 24 points and six rebounds in the 117-112 Thunder win.

OKC have won six of their last ten as they head west to face the Sacramento Kings.
