Houston, Texas (KTRK) — A Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot dead one suspect and another accidentally shot himself, according to officials.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, when deputies spotted the vehicle leaving the scene and pulling over the driver, the driver was uncooperative.

“When he finally got out of the car, he stabbed the officers with a knife, and the officers fired back,” said James Burger of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

Before the suspect raised the knife, Deputy Godmintz, who had worked at the sheriff’s office for three years, attempted to slit the suspect’s throat, but officials say it didn’t work.
