Deputies are to investigate the hit-and-run that killed the mother as a homicide in Cumberland County

STEDMAN, NC (WNCN) — Cumberland County legislators said Friday they would take over the investigation into a hit-and-run accident that killed a mother in May.
The incident happened Saturday, May 21, along Sandy Creek Road near Page Road, about three miles north of Stedman, according to a press release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Rose Zolman, 28, was killed early that morning and found in the middle of Sandy Creek Road, the press release said.
Deputies said they would investigate Zolman’s death as a homicide.

Zolman of Stedman was the mother of a little girl, according to her obituary. She was a graduate of Cape Fear High School and worked for her father at a pet store, according to the obituary.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol initially investigated the fatal hit-and-run accident, but recently the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was “recently made aware of the Highway Patrol’s findings,” the press release said.
