Death of Mickey Kuhn: The last remaining actor from “Gone with the Wind” dies at the age of 90

Mickey Kuhn, the last surviving actor from Blown by the windShe died at the age of 90.
His wife, Barbara, confirmed his death on Tuesday (November 22) and informed the press that Kuhn died on Sunday, November 20 at a hospice facility in Naples, Florida.
With Kuhn’s death, this means no members of the 1939 film’s production remain.
The actor was six years old when he starred in the Victor Fleming-directed film. Considered a Hollywood classic, Blown by the wind tells the story of Vivien Leigh’s outspoken heroine Scarlett O’Hara and her romantic pursuits with Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard) and Rhett Butler (Clark Gable).
Kuhn played Olivia de Havilland’s character’s (Melanie Wilkes) son, Beau Wilkes.
The film eventually won 10 of the 13 Oscars for which it was nominated. Remarkably, Hattie McDaniel’s win for Best Supporting Actress marked the first time a black person had won an Oscar.
After this role, Kuhn played the main role Dick Tracey [1945[1945The Strange Love of Martha Ivers in 1946 and John Wayne’s film red river in 1948.
He left the entertainment industry in 1956 after serving four years in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955, and later worked for American Airlines until 1995.
Kuhn became the last surviving credited actor from Blown by the wind following the death of de Havilland at the age of 104 on July 26, 2020.
