A pharmacy in Davis was attacked twice by robbers on Thursday, making that number three times in the past week and a half.

Davis Police said they arrested the thieves in connection with a robbery Thursday morning at CVS on East Covell Avenue. But KCRA 3 has been told officers were at the store Thursday night to monitor their investigation when they saw another “grab and go” robbery in progress.

Police told KCRA 3 that four people wearing hoodies were packing items such as cosmetics. That’s when an employee already in the store noticed and tried to stop them. Police say the employee suffered minor injuries during the incident, as the suspects ran out of the store. Police said the fifth person had prepared a car to hide outside and all the suspects had fled.

It all came about 12 hours after Davis police said two teenagers stole from the same CVS. Investigators say the couple ran into the store on Thursday morning and filled large bags with soap and toiletries.

Police acted quickly in this case thanks to a tip from earlier in the day.

“We got a call from another CVS in Woodland that was attacked by people who might be just like that,” Davis Deputy Chief of Police Paul Doroshov said.

Doroshov said officers stopped the suspects, 18-year-old Taveon Thompson and 19-year-old Dorian Adams, before they could drive out of the city. Police told KCRA 3 they were from the Bay Area. This comes just a week after a similar CVS in Davis, as well as another CVS in town, was robbed. Detectives are trying to find out if they are connected to the crimes committed on Thursday.

“We are still investigating,” Doroshov said, “We don’t know if these are the same suspects, but this is the issue, so we are actively investigating these cases. “.

Shoppers at CVS off East Covell Avenue in Davis said they felt uncomfortable when all of these incidents happened so close to home.

“I was surprised. Davis, everyone is walking at night or cycling. So it always feels safe. So for that to happen here is crazy,” said Johanna Bautista.

With robberies on the rise in Davis – but also across Northern California – Davis police are doing their best to prevent them from happening.

“We are trying to solve this problem by connecting with other departments, working more closely with the loss hedgers at these companies,” said Doroshov.

Both suspects from Thursday morning’s robbery were booked into the Yolo County Jail. However, Davis police said their investigation into Thursday night’s “grab and go” incident had just begun.
