David DePape also targeted Tom Hanks, Gavin Newsom and Hunter Biden

The man who allegedly hit Paul Pelosi with a hammer within an inch of his life had a list of other targets including Hunter Biden, Tom Hanks and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a court heard Wednesday.
San Francisco Police Sgt. Carla Hurley testified Wednesday that David DePape — who went to the Pelosi residence with intent to kidnap House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — admitted as much in an interview after the arrest.
In video of the interview played for the court, the conspiracy-obsessed DePape made rambling allegations against Pelosi and the Democratic Party — claiming his burglary was the start of a larger crime spree.
Hurley testified DePape, 42, told her his other targets were Newsom, Hanks, Biden and Gayle Rubin — a University of Michigan professor who writes on queer theory, sex and gender.
DePape’s choice of targets and reasoning was unclear, apart from a general dislike for Democratic Party politicians and left-leaning figures.

“There is evil in Washington. It’s this bloody record-breaking crime streak!” DePape said in the video. “The Democratic Party has been for the last four years — That’s been fucking crazy … So they haven’t just been spying … they’ve been spying and covering it up … They go crime after crime, it’s the whole damn 4 years.”
Upon arriving at the Pelosi residence, DePape said he told Paul Pelosi he couldn’t be stopped.
“I explained to him — I have other goals,” DePape said in the video. “I’m unstoppable. If you’re willing to stop me, I won’t be stopped here.”
In a previously released police interview clip, DePape described how he felt on a “suicidal mission” and “wouldn’t stand here and do nothing, even if it cost me my life.”
Hurley told the court she believed DePape’s words: “He mentioned on two separate occasions that if officers shot him, they wouldn’t miss him, and he was ready for it.”
According to the district attorney, DePape broke into Pelosi’s $6 million mansion in the early hours of October 28 with a hammer through a back door and confronted Paul Pelosi, 82, in the bedroom.

During the bizarre incident, Paul was able to call the police, who responded to the address and saw him and DePape fighting over a gavel. When DePape tried to hit Pelosi, the police were able to overpower him and take him into custody.
Police found another hammer, gloves and a laptop in DePape’s backpack.
Assistant District Attorney Phoebe Maffei described the injuries Paul Pelosi sustained in the hammer attack, including a circular nick and broken bone on the right side of his head, two fractures in his skull and lacerations on his hands.

He was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery and was able to return home a few days later after treatment.
DePape faces charges in California state court on counts of attempted manslaughter and first-degree burglary, as well as federal charges that could see him jailed for up to 50 years.
The judge said Wednesday he had found enough evidence to hold DePape’s trial and ordered him to be indicted on Dec. 28 next.
