Dave Chappelle, Queen joins the Foo Fighters at Taylor Hawkins tribute

The surviving members of the Foo Fighters were joined by a star cast of performers for a special tribute concert honoring the late Taylor Hawkins.

Hawkins, who had been the band’s drummer since 1997, died in March at the age of 50 of a cardiovascular collapse in a Colombian hotel where several drugs were found.

His death has sent shockwaves around the world as his heartbroken bandmates continue to pay their respects to the late father-of-three.

Among the performers at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Tuesday was vocal sensation Pink, who joined surviving members of Queen for a rendition of “Somebody To Love.”

The “What About Us” hitmaker also performed the Foo Fighters hit “The Pretender” before dueting with Heart’s Nancy Wilson on “Barracuda.”

After a stunning performance, the singer rushed to her Instagram Story and wrote, “I hate why we were there – but love that we were all together.”

Grohl’s teenage daughter, Violet Grohl, also took the stage and performed Leonard Cohen’s hit “Hallelujah” with guitarist Alain Johannes.

“Welcome to the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles,” the teen’s famous father told the crowd. “This is hometown, so you gotta make it loud for Taylor.”

Other notable appearances included comedian Dave Chappelle covering Radiohead’s track “Creep” with Foo Fighters.

After the performance, Dave Grohl told the crowd, “Didn’t see that coming, did you?”

Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Mötley Crüe and Chevy Metal were also among the artists.

Chevy Metal – Hawkins’ heavy metal band – was introduced on stage by his 16-year-old son Oliver Shane Hawkins.

“I’m really nervous,” Oliver Shane told the crowd, before calling Chevy Metal “one of the best damn cover bands I’ve ever heard in my life.”

Kesha performed David Bowie’s hit “Heroes” while Cyrus sang “Photograph” with Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott.

The concert came just weeks after the first tribute gig in London, where Hawkins’ son Oliver Shane performed “My Hero” on stage.

Hawkins is survived by his wife Alison Hawkins and three children – Oliver Shane, Annabelle Hawkins, 13, and Everleigh Hawkins, 8.
