Date, places and what you should know

Better watch out, better not drive, we’ll tell you why: The SantaCon is coming to town.
It’s that time of year when thousands of drunk Santas take over Manhattan’s bars in an epic, merry — and sometimes literal — crawl.
A $15 ticket gives Kris Kringle impersonators access to 64 bars on Saturday. The festivities are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Broadway and 40th Street.
Costumes are required to attend the event, whether it’s a classic Santa suit, an elf costume, or anything that projects Christmas.
“So put on your gay clothes, bake all your cookies and practice sliding down the chimney a few times because SantaCon will be here before you know it!” enthused organizers on the SantaCon website.

Ticket proceeds will be shared among various charities.
Last year’s SantaCon was a welcome return to tradition as the COVID-19 pandemic prevented wannabe elves from getting into the Christmas spirit in 2020.
The 2021 event required proof of COVID-19 vaccination on the doors in order to attend, but that doesn’t appear to be the case this year.
Past SantaCons have become rowdy, with two arrests in 2018 and five in 2015, including a woman who threw a beer mug at an East Village bartender.
