Cynthia McLeod stabbed to death by ex-boyfriend in New York: Cops

The woman, who was brutally stabbed to death at a Brooklyn check cashing store over the weekend, was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, police said.

Cynthia McLeod, 55, was at the shop on Van Buren Street, off Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 11am on Sunday when her ex-boyfriend, identified as James Brown, 62, started verbally abusing her because he owed him money, cops and a witness said..

He then stabbed her several times in the neck and torso, growling, “Aren’t you dead yet, bh? Are you still breathing?” during the heinous attack, according to authorities and the witness, who identified himself as Steve V.

Brown was waiting for McLeod at the store and said, “‘You owe me money,'” Steve said.

The victim tried to walk away, but the man stabbed her in the neck and chest, he said. He also punched and kicked her.

The murder weapon was a baby machete with a brass knuckle hilt, Steve said.

The witness said he knew the victim – and chased the knife man before tripping and holding him for police.

“He also tried to kill me,” Steve said. “I wasn’t running because I’m used to it, I’m coming off the street, so I tried to grab a bottle and hit him and he started running and I chased him and I hit him at the Corner tripped by Greene.”

Steve said cops showed up, shocked the man with a taser and arrested him.

Brown was charged with murder and criminal possession of a gun, according to police.

Steve described McLeod as a nurse who was a devoted mother to her son.

“She spent a lot of money just to go to school and take care of her little home and look what happened,” Steve said of McLeod. “The children have no father, nobody else.
