Cyclist killed in NYC after being towed by semi-truck

A cyclist was killed on Thanksgiving in Queens when a hit-and-run tractor driver hit her several feet, pinning her and dragging her for several feet, authorities said.

The bicyclist was pedaling east on Liberty Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. when a 2014 Kenworth T8 Series tractor with a Heil Tanker trailer made a left onto Van Wyck Expressway Service Road, police officers said.

The unidentified woman, 43, was thrown from her bicycle and pinned to the undercarriage of the tractor-trailer, police said.

She was dragged several meters as the tractor continued south on the side road, police officers said.

The motorist, identified by police as a 48-year-old man, drove away after the collision, leaving the cyclist on the ground.
