Crime in Houston: 2 people injured outside Speedy Mart convenience store during shooting

Investigators said they were called to a Speedy Mart off Westridge Road and West Bartell Road around 5:15 p.m.
Police said they found a man shot in the spine. A second victim was shot in the ankle but was taken to hospital in a private vehicle.
Police said it appeared a group of people were hanging out at the side of the corner store when an altercation broke out between the two. Police said surveillance video showed at least three others pulling guns.
Police say the crowd dispersed when shots were fired.
One victim got into a sedan and tried to drive away because he was hit in the back. The driver crashed into a truck that was parked in the Speedy Mart parking lot. The man was taken to the hospital by the Houston Fire Department and underwent surgery.
Investigators at the scene told ABC13 that bullets also hit a nearby apartment building. They said no one inside the apartment was injured.
Video surveillance is being reviewed to identify possible motives and descriptions of the suspects.
