Coronation street legends Katherine Kelly and Julie Hesmondhalgh reunite in a rare split

CORONATION Street lovers Katherine Kelly and Julie Hesmondhalgh reunited for a sweet moment yesterday.

Becky McDonald’s actress Katherine called Julie, who plays Hayley Cropper in the soap, “my favorite” as they both beamed their cheeks.

The pair acted on the cobblestones together for six years, with Becky appearing from 2006 to 2012 while Julie spent 16 on the show from 1998 to 2014.

Since leaving Corrie, both actresses have had film lead roles.

Katherine is one of ITV’s biggest stars having appeared in Mr Selfridge, Cheat and Liar. She also appeared in the BBC series The Night Manager and Happy Valley.

Julie, 52, also stars in the award-winning Happy Valley as well as Broadchurch and The Pact – about a group of working women who kill their obnoxious boss during an employee night out.

Corrie fans recently begged Katherine to come back after she shared photos from the show celebrating the 10th anniversary of her exit.

The lovable noisy man, who was married to Steve McDonald from 2009 to 2011, is at the center of many emotional and humorous storylines.

On a trip back in time, Katherine posted a photo of her character wearing a red off-the-shoulder ball gown as she stood in the doorway of Roy Cropper’s cafe, Roy’s Rolls.

In another split, Katherine can be seen wandering the cobbled street in another silver halter top with a silver chain collar, a metal clutch bag in her hand.

She captioned her Instagram snap: “A decade ago *she flew away @coronationtreet @itv.”

Notable Becky storylines include her drunkenness, two miscarriages, and her desire to adopt.

On the day of the wedding, Becky was so drunk that they had to postpone the ceremony.

After two miscarriages, Becky realized she couldn’t have children.

After the divorce, she left the soap and moved to Barbados with her new fiance Danny Stratton.
