The 35-year-old police officer targets both women, in their 20s, in avid police societies while serving as role models for rookie officers.

The drunk man, who was a police officer for 16 years but received a final written warning for abusing women while intoxicated, was exposed following a shocking rape threat in March 2020.

A Humberside Police court heard that the Grimsby-based patrol officer was among several colleagues invited to the student police’s home for a food and drink party.

The victim’s boyfriend, known as Miss A, was working the night shift but would join the party later.

Lings repeatedly asked Miss A “if she was a virgin” and said, “I can’t wait for your boyfriend to come home and catch me hanging out behind your back.”

The jury found Miss A’s housemate then “heard him whisper in her ear (Miss A} that he was going to rape her that night”.

Attorney Olivia Checa-Dover, in charge of the force, said one of the other female officers present was a student of Lings and “it was hard for her to see and hear these things.

“As one would expect, she has previously considered Mr Lings the person she trusts most in her work.”

She left the party early because of some bad news, and Lings was later told that “he would come see her that night if she didn’t leave,” the jury said.

Ms Checa-Dover added: ‘Obviously those present had been drinking quite a bit but it was clear that this type of behavior could not be excused.

“But sadly, it got worse. Miss A did not challenge what Lings did because ‘she didn’t want to cause problems’ as she put it.

“The panel may find that it is not a surprising concern for a student officer.”

As they sat on the sofa in the living room, Lings placed her hand on Miss A’s leg and moved it toward her crotch, although “she didn’t invite or encourage this and brushed it off, obviously she did. He didn’t want that kind of contact. . ”

Ms Checa-Dover continued that Lings was too drunk to be sent home, so the victim had prepared a spare bedroom so he could sleep.

He pushed her back to the bed, lay on top of her, and began kissing her face and neck, the hearing in Goole, East Yorkshire, was told.

“He touched her and kissed her. Her proof is that she told him to stop. His response was simply to laugh and move on,” added Ms Checa-Dover.

Colleagues describe Lings as “much larger in size than Miss A”. She continued: “When she repeated ‘stop’ he finally did.

“He left her. She managed to get out of the room. He fell asleep. And left after a while without anyone noticing.

“She went down to her housemate and cried. He noticed that she was trembling. When her boyfriend returned home, his opinion was that she was shaken.

“She was heartbroken about what to do after that and she was shocked by what happened.”

‘RIB IN THE DOLL’

It was also noticed that the young cop was “struggling to breathe” after her ordeal, and it was also discovered that a month before the party, he had texted her: “Suck cuckoo **k mine.”

When Miss A complained to her boss about what had happened, Lings was immediately suspended. An internal investigation was launched but he resigned on March 16, 2021.

Lings was also later accused of sexually assaulting another probation officer, known only as Miss B, in December 2019, during a Christmas ceremony for the patrol unit.

Miss B is also an intern and Lings is helping her research for her Student Officer Research and Assessment Portfolio, a list of goals the interns need to overcome.

Lings organized the event and arranged overnight accommodations at a hotel in Lincoln.

Ms. Checa-Dover said: “Miss B had had enough to realize she should go to her room.

She fell asleep but was awoken by a knock and opened the door to find Lings and another male officer.

Ms Checa-Dover explained: ‘Everything was fine, but then the man left. Mr Lings and Miss B were therefore left in the room

“She described him pushing around on the bed. He was lying on top of her. ” She tried to get him to stop, “which he ended up doing”.

She thinks he might have also tried to kiss her but doesn’t bring up this complaint because she says “it’s a matter of interpretation”.

Ms. Checa-Dover “After that Mr. Lings simply fell asleep. She stayed in the room for a while. When she heard noises outside, she walked away to another room, leaving Lings in her room.”

Before the group left the hotel, Miss B challenged Lings about his manners in front of their co-workers.

‘STUDENT STAFF HAS A GOAL’

Miss A also reported him for sexual assault, but Crown’s attorneys did not feel there was enough evidence to prosecute. She left the police on July 15, 2020.

Lings, who did not attend the hearing at Goole, applied to remain anonymous but this was denied. The Disciplinary Committee has resigned to review the findings of misconduct.

Finding him to have committed serious misconduct on both counts, judge panel chairman Callum Cox revealed Lings was giving his final written warning about an incident in May 2015 for having “residered.” mistreatment” of three women “after finding himself drinking again”.

He has also been mistreated twice before for other acts. Mr. Checa-Dover said the harm was done not only to his victims but also to the reputation of the police service.

She added: “The way police officers treat women is an issue of public concern.”

Mr Cox said Lings had “targeted” student officers and showed no remorse for the “serious matter before the jury” and the risk of reputational damage to Humberside and the police service. national surveillance “in the context of the current surveillance environment” is very high.

The jury ruled that he would have been fired if he hadn’t resigned. He has been blacklisted so he can no longer perform any police or similar roles.
