Composer Vangelis of the Chariots Of Fire soundtrack has died aged 79

Vangelis, best known for the soundtracks to Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner, is dead. He was 79.
A representative for the composer told the Guardian he died in a hospital in France. It is not known why he was treated.
Greek-born Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou became better known to the world as Vangelis. He went on to create the scores for “Antarctica”, “The Bounty” and “Alexander”.
But the title track “Chariots,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1982, became his most famous work and earned him an Oscar.
The artist combined orchestral music, electronic synthesizer sounds, jazz and ambient music that mimicked the sound of ocean waves as the film’s Olympic runners pranced along the beach.
