“Come Dine with Me” bosses gave me a fight

A COME Dine With Me contestant has revealed how bosses tricked her into colliding with another diner in a stunt that infuriated her.
Christine Ogden, 72, took part in the popular Channel 4 series in 2019 as it was filmed in the Bath and Bristol area.

Christine – a former bartender – didn’t always get together with fellow contestant Shelley during the week and when it came time for the latter to host on the final night, Christine was encouraged by members of the production team to wind her up.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Christine recalled: “I had a salt and pepper shaker, one of those that you put the batteries in.
“They said, ‘Take one of them out [with you]’. So I took it out of my bag and she saw it and said ‘oh well I have one of these’ and we all said ‘yes we know you have one’ because she was that kind of person.
“It’s like I told you, we can all brag. But she [the production] must know, they are very smart.”

While the pepper pot incident didn’t end up making it into the episode, Christine also pulled a stunt of her own — without the help of anyone behind the camera — to finish off her dinner rival.
She said: “She was one of those guys who went on holiday five times a year and you could see the others… she talked about it too much and bragged about it.
“I’m the type of person that I say what I see and so last night I took some cotton and she was talking about this and that and they all took the cotton.
“But it makes the program, everyone who saw it thought it was hilarious.”
However, some of Christine’s roommates found her joke a bit mean, with one saying, “At her table, in her house, I find that quite rude.”
In the safety of her kitchen, Shelley told the cameras: “Christine was a bit rude.
“She distributed them to the rest of the group and they took them!
At the end of the night the results were announced and Shelley finished first along with Chris and James while Christine finished second and Jamie-Lea last.
While Christine wasn’t upset about where she ended up in the competition, she was surprised by the long hours it took to film the show.

She revealed how she would be picked up around 4pm and didn’t get back home until 1 or 2am most nights.
She said: “We laughed but when I watch the episodes I don’t see it that way. All I know is I look shattered and tired and just wanted to go to bed.”
