Comcast to Bring High Speed ​​Internet to North Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Comcast Internet will come to the Northeast and Northwest Cape later this year. Many people in those areas said their only option was Centurylink. Many people said it was difficult, sometimes impossible to stream videos, games, or even open emails.

Someone like Harry Miller on NW 18th Street says their CenturyLink internet speed on a clear day is around 6.2 MBPS. “We wanted the Ring Doorbell and you can’t have it here because the Internet can’t handle that little doorbell camera,” he said.

Meanwhile down the street, Stacia Velazquez said she’s never even bothered to connect to the Internet since moving into her home on NW 17 Ave a few months ago. Instead, her family turned their phones into hotspots.

The Northwest Cape Coral Owners Association has been working with the City for several months promoting Comcast. Its secretary, Linda Stevens, said, “For me not having the Comcast option was really difficult because one street across, she had Comcast and her speed was phenomenal. I don’t have that luxury.”

Stevens is now elated that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

A spokesperson for The City said work has begun in the NE Gator Circle area and that the entire mapped area will have the option to sign up for the service later this year.

A Comcast spokesperson said, “We are making good progress with the construction of the unconserved portions of Cape Coral in the northern parts of the city (east, west and center). Our team is on the scene and doing all the work to build the network in these areas. We are working as quickly as possible to complete construction and have our services up and running before the end of the year. “
