Colorado Eagles Host Annual Cancer Night

LOVELAND, Colo (KDVR) – Hockey game known for encouraging fights.

But Saturday night, no one dropped gloves inside the Budweiser Event Center.

Instead, another competitor is being targeted: cancer.

The Colorado Eagles and UCHealth hosted the annual Eagles Fight Cancer Night, honoring Colorado cancer warriors.

Brandi Aspinall said: “My prognosis is not good. “And they said I most likely wouldn’t walk out of the hospital.”

Aspinall was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Disease at the age of 17, but defeated the cancer. Saturday, she was one of more than a dozen warriors honored at the game. Along with her husband, Mark, and daughters, Emma and Briah, she was honored to press the Xfinity button to start the game.

The annual event is a chance for past and present patients to forget about tests and treatments, and enjoy a night of hockey.

On the ice, each player wears the name of a cancer patient on their helmet, while wearing a lavender jersey.

In addition to the ice, fans have the opportunity to auction off in-game jerseys and autographed coins, with proceeds going to the UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation’s Cancer Support Fund.

“This is something that is really close and dear to the hearts of the players,” said Eagles President Ryan Bach.

Bach is a former Eagles keeper and says this type of fighting is much more enjoyable than hitting on the ice.

“We’ve seen a few in this building before,” he joked, “but nothing compared to what will be in this building tonight.”

They hope the fund can help other cancer fighters in their battle.

“If you focus on hope, you focus on bringing joy, and you focus on uplifting others and bringing people to you, miracles can happen,” Aspinall says. in your life”.
