On Monday’s episode, Imperial College London and the University of Reading competed for a place in the semi-finals

Imperial’s team is made up of four smart brains including Zeng, Sheriff, Mays and Jackson.

However, viewers were quick to point out that contestant Mays had repeatedly ignored Zeng and Sheriff and refused to listen to her teammates.

At one point Sherriff got the question right, but Mays didn’t acknowledge her.

Jeremy Paxman asked: “Describe the staging of a musical series, the song Thankrely, Me, from which musical, 2017 Tony Award winner?”

Mays immediately turned to Jackson and said, “2017, Thankly Me?”

Then the sheriff suggested: “Oh, wait, is that dear Evan Hansen? Because it was forged…”

“Dear Evan Hansen?” Mays eventually answered correctly but ignored her in the process.

Fans of the show were fed up and took to social media to ask why no one has “stopped him” since the team’s last appearance.

One person wrote: “#UniversityChallenge that man that Mays. Everywhere. Why doesn’t anyone tell him he needs to stop #Teamof4.”

Another quipped: “Poor Mays really should get that inability to turn her head to the right to check in with the #UniversityChallenge doctor.”

“Reaction again. Scary ignorance for Zheng and the Sheriff. #UniversityChallenge,” another posted.

A fourth commented: “Mays look left! Shock! #UniversityChallengeRos.”

“If the question asks for the names of Zeng’s father and mother, Mays will still look to Jackson for the answer. #UniversityChallenge,” one humorist added.

Another tweeted: “Why is Mays just consulting Jackson? It’s simply rude. #UniversityChallenge.”

Imperial College London won the round, beating the University of Reading by a whopping 225 to 120.

It wasn’t until a month after fans winced after noticing “terrible” stress between the same panel.

Kings College London and Imperial College London went head-to-head to secure their spot in the next round.

In response to a question from host Paxman, viewers couldn’t help but notice that the team is not getting along as expected.

Mays and Jackson are seen working together to find the answer to each brain puzzle, while ignoring their teammates.

“Its animal figure is often thought to resemble that of Hieronymus Bosch, The Tiled Field is a circa 1924 work by which Catalan artist?” asked the presenter.

The two men immediately turned to each other to excuse possible answers, completely dismayed by the Sheriff’s attempt to help sort it out.

When the Sheriff interjected, Mays and Jackson continued to talk to her before giving their answers – on one occasion they found them asking the wrong question.

“So that’s 50 lira – Turkey,” Zeng speculated on another answer, as he was quickly questioned by Mays, who asked: “Is there no other option?”

Fans couldn’t help noticing the tension and took to Twitter to label the teammate exchanges as “extremely harsh”.

“Isn’t Mays ignoring his two other teammates? Zeng is answering all the questions!” One social media user started the debate.

Another said: “Absolutely furious watching Mays ignore Sheriff and Zeng in the University Challenge.”

“Did Mays know he has two other members on the team besides Jackson?” a third said, as a quarter wrote: “Zeng and the Sheriff are on fire!

“Can’t understand why Mays keeps turning her back on them to then discuss the wrong answers with Jackson…”

University Challenge airs at 8:30 a.m. every Monday on BBC Two.
