Cocaine Bear: Final Ray Liotta Film had just announced the official release date

cocaine bearone of the late Ray Liotta’s final films, had announced its official release date just weeks before the actor’s death.

The film, which will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, is set to hit theaters on February 24, 2023, Universal confirmed earlier this month.

Based on a true story, it tells of an incident in 1985 in which a 175-pound black bear was found next to a duffel bag once filled with more than 70 pounds of cocaine before being thrown from a drug smuggler’s plane. You can read the full story of what happened here.

Liotta’s latest Instagram post was about the film, and the star wrote: “cocaine bear follows a strange group of cops, criminals, tourists and teenagers who meet in a Georgia forest where a 500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of the white powder and is looking for more punch – and blood – rages with coke.”

cocaine bear is Banks’ third feature film after directing Charlie’s Angel in 2019 and pitch perfect 3 in 2015.

Other starring roles include Keri Russell, Margo Martindale, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Jesse Tyler.

Liotta’s death at the age of 67 was announced today (May 26). Liotta, best known for starring in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 classic crime thriller GoodfellasAccording to Deadline, he died in his sleep while filming a new movie in the Dominican Republic.

The actor was in the Dominican Republic to film a project titled Dangerous waters.

Liotta was also set to star in French director Coralie Fargeat’s feminist body horror The substancealongside Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley.
