A PROFESSIONAL cleaner has revealed how many people clean their cleaning products the wrong way.
And how can they make their home actually dirtier – instead of cleaner.
Clean Queen Lynsey Crombie, who has been a professional cleaner for 14 years, loves to assist people with cleaning advice.
The cleaning expert, who has always loved cleaning and helping her mother as a child, has revealed that there are some common mistakes people make when cleaning their cleaning products.
“Often people over-clean them and potentially damage them,” she says.

“Always be careful not to get water into the vacuum as this can cause electrical failures.
“Also, using too much white vinegar when cleaning your washing machine and dishwasher can cause the rubber to corrode over time.”
Lynsey Crombie, known as the Queen of Cleanliness, revealed that dish towels are often the worst offenders and can secretly harbor uncleanness.
But she did share her top three tips for keeping household cleaning products clean.
She says everyone should focus on regular cleaning and incorporate that into their monthly cleaning schedule.
Meanwhile, they should also remember to keep products for cleaning – such as white vinegar, soda crystals, dishwashing liquid and washing machine cleaner.
Most importantly, she says, people should always clean their cleaning products.
Lynsey added: ”It’s important to make sure that you’re not pushing dirt around your home and thereby making it dirtier than it originally was. “
She also shares which cleaning products are the worst offenders when it comes to litter.
Lynsey revealed that dish towels were the worst offenders for keeping the film under wraps.
“You can forget to clean them and these sheets are full of germs and bacteria if not cleaned on a regular basis,” she says.
“You can put them in the dishwasher, washing machine and microwave to clean.
“But if you are using microfiber fabrics for washing, when washing, be sure to rinse the fabric softener as this will lose their absorbency and make them not clean anymore.
“To clean them in the microwave, simply fill a microwave-safe bowl with water and add a few drops of white vinegar, pop in the sponge and run at full power for 5 minutes.”
Lynsey reveals that a dirty mop head will only move litter around the house and not clean your floors.
She adds that mop heads can also really smell and start to decompose if not cleaned properly.
She advises that most mop heads are machine washable, but if hand wash only, people can soak in a mixture of laundry detergent and white vinegar.
Lynsey revealed that many people text her saying that their clothes sometimes smell or have stains when using the washing machine.
The cleaning expert revealed: “This is usually because the washing machine is not clean.
“Make sure to clean your washing machine once a month, running soda crystals through when doing a hot wash or buying a washing machine cleaner.
“Also take out the soap dispenser and rinse and empty the filter. Using liquid cleaners instead of powders will help prevent drawers from getting clogged.
“If you find your washing machine still smells after cleaning, when it’s finished loading, leave the door slightly open and let it air dry, this will prevent mold and mildew from building up.”
As dishwashers get better and better, the need to clean dishes before putting them in the dishwasher is a thing of the past, Lynsey reveals.
But with this in mind, she says people must remember that their dishwashers are working and cleaning is getting harder and harder.
She explains that if your dishwasher isn’t clean, your plates won’t be clean and the water swimming around will be dirty, smelly, and full of old food debris.
Lynsey suggests: “Pull out the filter weekly, rinse and clean the dishwasher monthly.
“To clean your dishwasher, remove the filter and rinse with warm soapy water, then use a recycled toothbrush and washing solution to clean the rubber sills and sides.
“Then, on the top and bottom shelves, add in small plates of white vinegar and then run the hottest cycle.”
Lynsey reveals: “A vacuum cleaner is another cleaning tool that can make your house dirtier.
If you’re pushing your vacuum around and notice that it’s not picking up or dust is being split behind, your vacuum needs cleaning, she advises.
“You really don’t want to get pushed through the dirt and leave it on your floors and carpets,” she says.
“Most vacuums these days are bagless so a quick emptying and weekly rinse is enough to keep it in good working order but monthly your vacuum will need a deeper cleaning.
”Clean the base by cleaning the wheels and rollers and plucking out any hairs and debris that may be trapped as well as the ducts and filters. “
