The Ohio State team may have had a disappointing end to their season as a team, but some individuals have had some really good seasons. One of those individuals is CJ Stroud. Buckeye’s quarterbacks have had a really impressive new season.
Stroud is the best midfielder in the Big Ten and he showed it. He won the Quarterfinals of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in the Top Ten. He’s the only Buckeye to ever achieve that feat. Now, he receives a greater honor.
Stroud will be in New York for the Heisman Trophy. He has been named a finalist for the award. It’s not surprising, but it’s still a great honor. Stroud deserves it, too, having thrown for 3,862 yards, 38 touchdowns and five interceptions. He is a weapon on the field.
Because Stroud is so good, Ohio State has the number one crime in the nation. While that didn’t allow them to make it to the College Football Knockout Qualifiers, Stroud still deserves some recognition for his amazing play. Being a Heisman finalist certainly does the trick.
I would be shocked if Stroud wins the award. Chances are Bryce Young from Alabama will win it. Even so, this sets the stage for just how good Stroud can turn out to be. He’s just a freshman and should only get better. He can use this season as a learning experience for next year.
Stroud will most likely also return to New York next season. How successful the group around him is depends on Ryan Day and how he handles everything. Stroud just needs to grow and get better during the season, and the Ohio State team will once again have a really good offensive position.
We’ll be sure to let you know how the ceremony goes this weekend and whether or not Stroud wins.
