Christina Ricci shares her thoughts on Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday

Christina Ricci spoke about the Netflix series Wednesday with Jenna Ortega.

Ricci, 42, began her career playing the Addams family’s grumpy daughter, Wednesday, adapted from the characters created by cartoonist Charles Adams.

The actress was nine years old when she played the dead child in two live-action Addams Family films released in 1991 and 1993.

Most recently, she starred in the Netflix series Wednesdayin which 20-year-old Ortega takes on the iconic role once played by Ricci.

This time, Ricci played the role of Mrs. Thornhill, a teacher at Nevermore Academy, the Wednesday school.

In a recent interview with The guardRicci spoke briefly about the restart.

When asked if it’s weird still talking about the character decades after playing her, Ricci replied, “I don’t mind. I talk about her in almost every interview!”

Speaking of Netflix’s newly released series, she said: “But I think it’s important to note that this new Wednesday is different.

“Today’s youth deserve to have their own version of Wednesday.”

Although Ortega was on set together and shared a number of scenes, she previously said she didn’t talk to Ricci about the character at all.

Ortega’s performance was praised by viewers, who also hailed the “brilliant” casting of a particular supporting role.

Since its release last month, Wednesday has proven to be a huge hit for the streaming giant.

The eight-episode series broke multiple records for Netflix. It’s the first time an English-language series on the streamer has surpassed 400 million hours of watch time in one week.
