Chris Moyle’s Profile: From Radio 1 to I’m a Celebrity 2022

Darker evenings and colder temperatures mean one thing for TV fans – I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! is back.

For the 20th year running, the show, which puts famous faces through wild challenges, is back with a star-studded cast list.

From MPs (Matt Hancock) to soap stars (Sue Cleaver) to 80’s icons (Boy George), there’s a wide array of well-known people who have signed up for weeks of bushtucker trials and wild living.

Also included in this year’s list of roommates is radio host Chris Moyles – but what’s his story and what has he said about being on this season of? i am a celebrity?

Chris Moyles has worked in radio since the 1990s, first at a local station in his hometown of Leeds before moving to London in 1996 to work at Capital FM.

After joining Radio 1 in 1997, Moyles started as a presenter The Chris Moyles Show in the Breakfast Square in 2004.

Despite being a popular feature on the station, his time on Radio 1 was not without controversy. In 2002, he came under fire for quipping that he would be willing to “take Charlotte Church’s virginity” when the child star was 16.

He remained in that role until 2012, when he left the station and was replaced as breakfast host by Nick Grimshaw.

In 2015, Moyles began his hosting residency at Radio X, as well as beginning his marriage to his third wife, Tiffany Austin.

Moyles’ role on the show has lasted for a long time, having been turned down multiple times in the past. But despite his “fear of heights”, the 48-year-old finally decided to do it – even if he doesn’t know exactly why.

“I used to always turn down offers to participate. But this year I didn’t immediately say no and ended up going to a meeting,” he explained.

“Now I don’t know why I said yes. But I’m a huge fan of the show and I know what I’m getting into! My friends who have done this before have told me I’m going to have a great time.”

Since appearing on the show, Moyles has been candid about how Grimshaw’s takeover of his radio show was “managed so poorly”.
