China’s Foreign Minister Qin Gang was fired after the US affair, dear child

WASHINGTON – This is baby mama drama on an international stage.

Just seven months into his term as China’s foreign minister, Qin Gang was mysteriously fired from his post as Beijing’s top diplomat in July.

The reason? He seems to have slept with the enemy – literally.

In a story that could belong on Page Six, the This was revealed by the Wall Street Journal On Tuesday, Qin was jailed after Chinese President Xi Jinping discovered that his former confidant had fathered a love child in the United States while he was Beijing’s ambassador to Washington.

This wasn’t a one-night stand either.

Qin’s extramarital affair with the child’s mother reportedly lasted throughout his 18-month tenure in Washington, DC, where he was the top diplomat in charge of relations with the US – China’s main adversary.

According to a transcript, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning did not address the bomb report during her daily news conference on Tuesday, nor did reporters in Beijing ask about the matter.

Qin, once a trusted adviser to Xi, returned to Beijing from Washington last January when he was named foreign minister, the Chinese government’s equivalent of the U.S. secretary of state.

Although Qin’s term lasted only a few months, he oversaw U.S.-China relations during an intense period marked by a postponed visit from Secretary of State Antony Blinken after Washington discovered that Beijing had launched a spy balloon into American airspace.

After President Biden ordered the military to shoot down the balloon off the coast of South Carolina last February, Qin led China’s messaging campaign denying that the plane had been intentionally sent over the U.S. and tried unsuccessfully to convince Washington otherwise that it was a “civilian airship” was off course.

In one of his final acts before mysteriously disappearing from public view in June, Qin met with Blinken during the minister’s postponed trip to Beijing aimed at easing simmering tensions between the U.S. and China affecting much of the world worry.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry initially cited health concerns as the reason for Qin’s absence, but the whispers grew louder when Xi stripped Qin of his title without explanation the following month.

According to the Journal, senior officials in China were privately briefed in August on the true and scandalous reason why Qin was removed following an internal investigation by the Chinese Communist Party.

According to the report, CCP investigators did not disclose the identity of Qin’s lover and the child to party officials, but confirmed that the baby was born in the United States.

It is unclear whether the lover was an American citizen or whether the child received U.S. citizenship.

While the Constitution says everyone born in the U.S. is guaranteed citizenship, babies born to foreign diplomats are typically exempt.

However, if the love child was born to an American woman, the child may be eligible for primary citizenship through his mother.

Depending on the mother’s nationality, the affair and resulting offspring may have raised concerns about China’s national security as Xi seeks to root out any perceived vulnerabilities in its leadership and Beijing’s relations with the United States become increasingly tense.

Similar to Qin, Li disappeared from the public eye in August and has not been seen in public since. Like Qin, Li is also expected to lose his title once the reported investigation is completed.

China’s foreign and defense ministries did not respond to The Post’s requests for comment on Tuesday.

The apparent turmoil among China’s top foreign and military affairs officials comes as Washington and Beijing weigh possible options for easing the strained relationship.

While Xi declined to travel to New York for the U.N. General Assembly this week, U.S. officials hope the Chinese president will come to San Francisco in November for a summit of Asia-Pacific leaders.

Both U.S. and Chinese officials have expressed interest in smoothing ties in statements, possibly through a separate summit between Biden and Xi in the United States.
