Chiefs Willie Gay on the Subs/COVID-19 roster, vs Chargers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City skipper Willie Gay will not play against the Los Angeles Chargers in the Thursday Night Soccer League after being placed on the Sub/COVID roster on Wednesday.

Gay joins defense Chris Jones and broad receiver Josh Gordon are among the players who have been included in the roster this week as part of an ongoing outbreak across the NFL.

Gordon and Jones, both vaccinated, have a chance to play on Thursday if they can deliver two negative COVID-19 tests in a 24-hour period. Gordon was added to the COVID list on Monday, Jones was added to the list on Tuesday.

The Rashawn Slater removable charger was put on the COVID list on Monday.

In addition, full-back L’Jarius Sneed will not play due to lack of training this week while dealing with the death of his brother, and defender Andrew Wylie is under question because of a knee injury.

The Captain and Charger kicked off from the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday night in their battle for the top spot of the AFC West.
