Chicago Bears Mistakes Buffalo Bills Coordinator for HC Job

Monday is an exciting day for Chicago Bears. So far, the fan base has been on an emotional rollercoaster ride.

In the early hours of the morning, the Bears fired both head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace, to the delight of most fans. Monday afternoon, however, has arrived Press Conference involving George McCaskey and Ted Phillips.

Let’s just say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Fans are never really thrilled to hear from those two, but there’s no option to keep some hope that the organization will get the exact hire from here on out. Speaking of which, the Bears have officially requested their first official interview.

There are many more to come, but at least the first on the list is remarkable.

The Chicago Bears mistakenly selected Buffalo Bills coordinator, Leslie Frazier, for their first interview.

Let’s start with Leslie Frazier, who Bears asked for an interview Monday afternoon.

In fact, the Buffalo Bills led the NFL in total defensively, allowing only 17.0 points per game. Their defense was particularly stingy, yielding only 163 yards per game across the road.

Frazier is known as a defensive guy, and was formerly a Bear. He’s well-connected and respected throughout the league, and he won’t necessarily be a lousy hire.

He’s not exactly the right hire.

This next hire should be primarily about Justin Fields and developing him into the future. This is not to say Frazier can’t find the right coordinator, but if the Bears want a more qualified quarterback “expert”, so to speak, they should interview coordinator Brian as well. Bills’ Daboll.

We’ve talked a lot about Daboll, here, as a potential Nagy replacement. Most people now understand that Daboll was heavily involved in the development of Josh Allen. When Allen arrived in the tournament, he struggled a lot with his completion rate and had to control a few misfires.

Under Daboll’s leadership, Allen has now become one of the top quarterbacks in the league – also a dual threat.

Allen’s large arms and mobility are both strong and similar traits to Fields. Giving Daboll another guy who can dig deep and use his feet would be fun to watch. He’s definitely one of the leaders in terms of being able to get the most out of Fields going forward.

The beauty of bringing Daboll to Chicago would be that then he has a running game. In Buffalo, Devin Singletary and Zack Moss were not as reliable as Daboll might have liked.

In Chicago, Daboll will not only have Fields, but he will have David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert in the backyard. Giving a young midfielder and new offensive coordinator a strong run means a big advantage for the Bears.

Undoubtedly, the Bears might want to interview Daboll as well, so Frazier could be the first of many. Stay tuned for more requests to enter Buffalo here in the near future. Chicago Bears Mistakes Buffalo Bills Coordinator for HC Job
