Chicago Bears’ Matt Nagy Gives Another Unanswered Answer to the Important Question

Part of your job as an NFL head coach is to try and develop your young talent for future success. Because Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy, that’s an area where he struggled.

Look at the way he handled rookie quarterback Justin Fields, and his offense simply doesn’t match any Fields quarterback, should have been one of the main reasons the Bears fired Nagy.

Apparently Nagy was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, here. As the season went on, Nagy gave Fields a few more opportunities to use his foot and get out of the bag, but overall the foul situation remained.

Another player that Nagy has the opportunity to develop is rookie Larry Borom. However, last week, Nagy chose start veteran Germain Ifedi overtakes Borom in an interesting decision. That decision was called into question this week.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy gave us an answer that can’t be ignored when trying to defend a questionable decision.

When Nagy was asked about his decision to start Ifedi instead of Borom in a pointless game, reporters could also think about Ifedi’s outburst from last week. Teen Jenkins was flagged for needlessly rough behavior during a game against the Minnesota Vikings, and Ifedi arrived and ignited his rookie teammate in a fit of rage.

Some did not like Ifedi’s move, noting that he should instead stand up for his defender. Others argue that Ifedi’s motives may be correct, but the way he chooses to knock his teammates down is not appropriate.

So, for Ifedi to not only start against the Seahawks but be named captain, it’s totally worth asking Nagy. Now, it doesn’t matter if Nagy starts Ifedi or not. Jenkins is eventually injured, forcing Borom to act. But, when asked about the decision, here’s what Nagy had to say:

“You hit these points now in the off-season, and especially since we weren’t able to make it to the knockout stages, I understand that everyone will have their own opinion. Who is each player and their role. I think if you look at Ifedi and where he was here last year as a guard, and then we changed him to deal, and how he finished in such a wonderful way so it’s very clear. Then this year we have two young draft picks that we have for the future, but Ifedi is still the starter. He came on and I think he played well. Then he got hurt.”

Pretty correct answer, right? Not exactly – and he’s not done yet.

“It’s all personal, they’ve put their own time and effort into trying to come back and try to play for their team and teammates, so there’s going to be more motivation than just ‘play this guy. or play him.’ That’s what we deal with as coaches is make sure we deal with that.

“So looking back to last week we likely had Ifedi ready and available, what a great opportunity for him to come back and show what he can do. Every week is a little different and they all have their reasons in different positions, so that’s why we did it last week. ”

That’s why he did it, guys. All of that – all – is why he decided to start Ifedi.

In case you haven’t noticed, there is absolutely no concrete answer to the original question in all that pile of words. Nagy doesn’t have a good answer to a question, just as he almost never has a good and specific answer to any question.

As we said here, for a while, Nagy will be fired. That’s an obvious assumption to make. However, he was fired for some reason. This is just another in a long line of reasons why he started the boot.

Whenever Nagy is asked an important question by the media, he jumps around the question and gives us lengthy answers that really don’t answer much. It’s tiring. That’s funny. It was horrible.
