Cheryl’s West End debut is thrown into chaos when the star leaves and is replaced by the EastEnders legend

CHERYL’S West End theater show was thrown into chaos after her co-star was forced to retire – less than a week after her debut.
Actor Hugo Chegwin has had to withdraw from production of Ghost Story due to illness during rehearsal – and has been replaced by EastEnders legend Jake Wood.

Jake was an original cast member alongside Lily Allen, Julia Chan and Hadley Fraser on 2:22 A Ghost Story when it opened at the Noel Coward Theater in summer 2021.
Cheryl kicked off her three-month stint in Ghost Story 2:22 over the weekend to rave reviews.
Jake will be performing from January 26th through the end of the run, and previews up to that performance will be covered by understudy Ben Cutler.
Of his return, Jake, who received an award for his role, said: “It was an honor to direct the role of Ben in Noel Coward and to win the What’s On Stage award for Best Supporting Actor in a Male Identification Role in a Play in 2021 , and I’m really looking forward to being part of the cast again by the end of April.

“Danny Robins’ screenplay is funny, touching and so entertaining and quite simply the best play I’ve ever read. If you’ve seen the show before, come back and see it again and I promise you’ll enjoy it as much as I know I will the second time around.”
