Chelsea held a transfer meeting with agents of the “very special” Arsenal target this week

Chelsea have held a meeting with Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia’s representatives amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

That says the Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieriwho claims Lavia is now the subject of “intense” interest from Chelsea.

It is said that Chelsea want to “speed up” his move to Lavia ahead of the summer window.

A meeting with Lavia’s representatives in Belgium is said to have taken place last week.

This aligns with TalkSPORT’s claim that Chelsea are increasing their interest in Lavia’s signing.

Arsenal are also interested in Romeo Lavia

Chelsea are far from alone in the race for Lavia. That may be why they are so keen to quicken their pace right now.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Lavia.

Both clubs are in the midfielder market this summer and have been linked with Declan Rice.

Lavia could be seen as an alternative destination this summer as they really showed promise for Southampton.

Mikel Arteta’s mentor Pep Guardiola was a big Lavia fan at Manchester City; Perhaps the Arsenal boss thinks he can fit in with the Gunners.

Chelsea can win this race, as can Mykhailo Mudryk

Arsenal may be interested but it seems Chelsea are the clear favorites for Lavia’s signature.

Chelsea tried to sign Lavia from Southampton just weeks after his move last summer and offered a huge deal which Southampton refused.

Recruitment chief Joe Shields left Manchester City for Southampton and took Lavia with him last summer.

Shields has now joined Chelsea and it makes perfect sense that the Blues are now pushing for Lavia again.

Hailed as a ‘very special’ player by Jadon Sancho, Lavia has already shown huge potential at 19 and could join Enzo Fernandez in Chelsea midfield.

The Blues beat Arsenal in signing Mykhailo Mudryk in January and it feels like they could do the same with Lavia.

In other news, Newcastle told Allan Saint-Maximin he “didn’t work hard enough” at Nottingham Forest.
