Channelview ISD: Dr. Tory C.Hill will be officially appointed as their director by the board

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – Channelview The Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Tory C. Hill as the sole finalist to become the district’s next superintendent.

The KBS Law Team searched the country starting October 2021 for the Channelview ISD board and gathered input from the community and county staff. After narrowing the selection, the panel unanimously selected Dr. Hill.

Dr. Hill will be officially named February 1 due to a 21-day waiting period, which is required by Texas law to allow time for the superintendent’s employment contract to be approved.

Dr. Hill is currently the director of Sweeny ISD. During his five years at Sweeny ISD, he approved a $2 million bond to address student safety, health and wellness, as well as major infrastructure improvements. He also spearheaded a $1.7 million naming rights deal for the new CTE Sweeny ISD Center with Chevron Phillips and was nominated as Director of the Year for Region 4 in 2020.

Dr. Hill earned a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University and received a master’s degree in education from Florida A&M University. He also earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Southern University.

The sole finalist was a sociology teacher in Georgia, Florida, and Texas before serving as director. He is the vice principal, principal and deputy superintendent of the Katy Independent School District. He also served as the executive director of professional learning for the Clear Creek Independent School District.

Dr. Hill is married to his wife, Cassandra, and they have three daughters, Niesha, Taylor and Khadija.
