Cardi B hasn’t defamed Trump supporters by calling them racist, Judges Rules

Musician Cardi B and her sister did not defame a group of Trump supporters by calling them racist, a New York judge ruled Friday.

Instead, Suffolk County Judge William Condon wrote in his ruling: “The words uttered to the plaintiffs do not rise to defamatory languageas they were just general insults.”

The Grammy Award-winning artist, her sister Hennessy Carolina, and wife Carolina’s friend Michelle Diaz were sued for defamation in September 2020 after Cardi B posted a video on social media depicting an altercation between the couple and a group of Trump supporters Devotees demonstrated at a beach in the Hamptons.

In the lawsuit, Peter Caliendo, Pauline Caliendo and Manuel Alarcon said Ms Carolina and her friend threatened the group and called them racist in an argument over parking on the sand.

The lawsuit also alleged Ms Carolina attacked the group for “spraying her copious amounts of spit on said plaintiffs while they went on a rampage” and that she allegedly threatened that people would “really beat your shit**.” . ‘ and called the group ‘racist’.

Beachgoers were seen in video of the incident wearing a Trump Make America Great Again hat and the original legal action also mentions that they fly a Trump flag.

Although Cardi B was not present on the beach during the Labor Day explosion, she posted video of the incident to her social media, as well as an audio recording from Hennessy Carolina describing her version of events, and repeated the accusation that the group was racist .

“My sister can’t go to the beach with the joke of the Hampton [sic] Harassing Trump supporters because they were alone and Santa was harassing my sister GF all because they are an Afro/Hispanic gay couple,” she wrote on Twitter.

Hennessy Carolina elaborated on this in an audio recording shared in another Cardi B post.

“We moved out of respect,” she says. “Then you, two men, came up to us and yelled: Get out of here, go to your damn country because you saw us parked here and we speak Spanish and we’re mixed race and we’re bloody mixed race Couple and we’re lesbian and you guys just bonded and hung the MAGA hat and flag.”
