But they’re even more painful once you’ve bought the ticket and displayed it.

However, your best bet is on the inside of the windshield.

That way, if the ticket falls, it will land safely on the surface below rather than onto your car seat and out of view.

How much is a parking fee?

Parking fines are capped at £100, so you’ll never be charged more than that for a single breach of the rules.

That’s still a high amount – and in most upscale streets and malls, you can expect a lower fee.

Next year, the rules are changing so the private car park operator will only be able to fine you a maximum of £50 to £70.

The amount will depend on the severity of the offence.

There is also a 50% discount if paying for parking tickets within 14 days.

If the parking ticket is not paid within 28 days, the surcharge is usually 50%.
