Cameron Diaz is coming out of retirement.
The 49-year-old actress, who retired from acting in 2018, will star in the upcoming Netflix film Back in Action alongside Jamie Foxx, 54.
Foxx shared the news on Twitter Tuesday, along with a recorded phone conversation between the Charlie’s Angels star and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who knows a thing or two about lifting retirement.
Netflix confirmed the project to The Post, and a Diaz rep told The Post that “the project is ongoing, but there’s no release date yet.” The Post has also reached out to Foxx representatives.
“Cameron, I hope you’re not upset that I recorded this, but there’s no going back now.” Foxx tweeted in the announcement. “Had to call the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starts later this year!!”
In the call, There’s Something About Mary actress Diaz said she was “feeling so anxious right now. I like pacing around the room.” When pressed on her mood by Foxx, she replied, “I’m excited, but I don’t know how to do it, you know?”
Foxx then said he understood and let her know he “has someone on the other line who can help you with that” before calling Brady.
“I’ve been relatively successful at not retiring,” six-time Super Bowl champion Brady explained on the recording.
“Honestly… just what I needed,” said a seemingly shocked and admittedly nervous Diaz.
“Well, folks, I’ll hop off and let you guys do the talking,” Foxx said.
“Perfect,” replied Brady, whose short-lived retirement earlier this year lasted just 40 days before deciding to return to Tampa Bay. “We’ll take it from here.”
Diaz and Foxx previously worked together on the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday and the 2014 remake of Annie.
No plot details have been released for Back in Action, Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon will also direct the film, having co-written the screenplay with Brendan O’Brien.
