According to news reports, approximately 794,000 checks worth $568 million collectively are being mailed to eligible residents of the state through December 31.

But only residents of California for more than half of the 2020 tax year are eligible.

This sets them apart from the next wave of child tax credit payments set to reach millions of Americans in just a few weeks.

Salary ranges between $30,000 and $75,000 per year California residents qualify for $600 and $1,100 for those with children under the age of 18.

The checks are part of the state’s Golden State II program thanks to roughly $12 billion in coronavirus relief approved by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom said in a statement at the time.

Those who qualify for the stimulus check will usually receive it using the refund option selected on their tax return.

Direct deposits usually appear in a bank account within a few business days, while paper checks can take up to three weeks to arrive.
