California mall shooting, 9 year hit

A 9-year-old girl was reportedly shot and killed at a mall northeast of Los Angeles Tuesday night when gunfire rang out.

According to KABC-TV, the shooting happened near a Barnes & Noble store in the Mall of Victor Valley in Victorville at around 6:30 p.m.

Shoppers and workers hunkered down in stores as the mall went into lockdown, the station said.

The young victim was reportedly taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.

The suspect remained at large.
