California family welcomes twins 15 minutes apart, in different years at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas

A California family had a New Year’s Eve party after welcoming twins, they now have a unique story to tell about their birth.

Alfredo Antonio Trujillo was born at 11:45 pm on December 31, 2021 at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. However, due to notable timing, he will not be sharing a birthday with his twin sister.

Fifteen minutes later, his twin sister Aylin Yolanda was born at exactly midnight on January 1, 2022.

The odds of having twins are around one in 250. But technically Alfredo and Aylin were born in different years, that’s a one in two million chance.

Both the mother and father as well as the extended family were shocked. Fatima Madrigal said neither of their families had twins.

The doctor who delivered the birth to this special couple called it one of the most memorable births of her career.

“It has been an absolute joy to help these little ones get here safely in 2021 and 2022. What a wonderful way to start the new year,” said Dr. Ana Abril Arias. Arias said.

Madrigal says she’s so honored that her newborn baby boy and baby girl can be a sign of hope as we move into the new year.

“Anything is possible and every child is a blessing.”
