Buffalo man convicted of fatally injuring 7-month-old baby

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) — A Buffalo man is facing jail for fatally injuring a 7-month-old baby, the Erie County District Attorney announced.

Nasir Jackson, 21, was sentenced on Tuesday to 25 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

In December 2021, authorities said Jackson caused the death of his girlfriend’s son while the child was under his care in a hotel room in the city of Tonawanda.

According to authorities, the infant Ocean Reed was unresponsive when he was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital. The infant later died in hospital; The cause of death was determined by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office to be a blunt trauma to the head.

Jackson previously admitted reckless behavior that led to the child’s death. In June 2023, he pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter.
