Britney Spears says she had a ‘secret relationship’ before her father took over her life

Britney Spears appears to be claiming her father ended a “secret relationship” she was in when he began controlling her career.

The pop star has shared a string of revelations on her Instagram account since she was freed from the conservatory, which once controlled her business and personal affairs, in November last year.

Among the posts was criticism of the way her family, including her father Jamie and sister Jamie-Lynn, treated her while she was bound by the controversial legal settlement.

On March 24, Spears shared a series of screenshots showing her commenting on adjusting to her newfound freedom.

She recalled a time when she felt compelled to keep secrets: “When my family made me reveal my words 10 hours a day!”

“I even had a boyfriend once…we had a secret relationship,” she wrote. “My family couldn’t take it that I was forgotten in my relationship. They never heard from me again like, ‘What’s your deal? We want to know.’

“Six months later, my dad took over my entire career and cut out all my friends and my boyfriend.”

Spears said she was “devastated” at the time.

On Friday, November 12, 2021, a judge ruled Spears regained control of her personal and financial independence for the first time since 2008.

The news made her fans around the world celebrate.

Following the verdict, Spears, 39, wrote on Instagram: “Good god I love my fans so much it’s crazy!!! I think I’ll cry the rest of the day!!!! Best day ever…Praise the Lord…can I get an amen????”

Earlier this month, she appeared to confirm she’s married longtime boyfriend, personal trainer and actor Sam Asghari after referring to him as her “husband” in multiple Instagram posts.
