Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey defends season 2’s lack of sex scenes: ‘The payoff is really deserved’

Bridgeton Star Jonathan Bailey has defended the show over the lack of sex scenes in season two.

When it arrived on Netflix in December 2020, the first season of Netflix’s historical romance series focused on the torrid relationship between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page).

The second season hit the platform on Friday (March 23), with a new focus on older brother Anthony (Bailey) and his love triangle between sisters Edwina (Charithra Chandran) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

While the series has earned praise, many critics and fans alike bemoaned the lack of physically intimate scenes in the new installment of episodes compared to season one, which saw Kate and Anthony have sex for the first time in the penultimate episode.

However, in conversation with United States todayBailey said that “it would have been wrong if Kate and Anthony got physical earlier than they did.”

“I think the payout is really deserved,” he added.
