Bridgerton season 2 sets Netflix opening weekend record

Bridgeton broke Netflix’s streaming record after its opening weekend.

The second season, which premiered on the platform on Friday (March 25), focuses on the relationship between Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and heiress Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

Despite fans’ fears that Regé-Jean Page’s departure would hurt the show, its popularity has remained and it quickly rose to number one in the UK on the Netflix charts.

Since its premiere, the second season of Bridgeton has amassed 193 million hours of watch time worldwide — the most of any English-language Netflix series in its first three days.

Additionally, the new episodes made the top 10 in 92 of the 93 countries where Netflix tracks the rankings. The only country where it didn’t make the top 10 was Japan.

The total for the opening weekend is only surpassed by part five of the Spanish-language thriller series money robbery The last release of these episodes in September 2021 lasted 201.9 million hours in the first three days, according to Netflix’s internal measurements.

BridgetonThe first season of , which debuted in December 2020, became the streaming service’s most-watched original series after tuning in to 82 million member accounts in its first 28 days.

However, this was surpassed in October 2021 with the launch of the acclaimed dystopian drama Squid Gamewhich was followed by 111 million viewers in the first month.
