Boy was ‘brutally assaulted’ before ‘murdered by his mother’s lover’ as the couple appeared in court
A MUM and her boyfriend appeared in court today charged with the death of her toddler – who was subjected to “brutal assaults”.
Louise Lennon and Jake Drummond have been charged in connection with the death of 15-month-old Jacob Lennon.

His mother, Louise, 31, of Wandsworth, South West London, has been charged with neglect of a child and causing or allowing the death of a child.
Drummond, 31, has been charged with total murder on August 26, 2019 and also one count of willful bodily harm.
He shows up at the Old Bailey via video link while Lennon, on bail, shows up at the pier.
The Old Bailey heard that young Jacob was “systematically abused” before his death in August 2019.
An autopsy revealed injuries consistent with prolonged abuse, with the tot’s cause of death being recorded as a head wound.
The court heard that numerous historical injuries suggested a “severe series of brutal assaults on a small child”.
She added: “A 999 call was made that day in the early hours of the morning, 6am saying the baby was not breathing.
“The baby was taken to St George’s hospital, where he remained in cardiac arrest throughout the journey.
“He was pronounced dead at 7:22 am.”
The couple is expected to get married on February 22 next year.
Drummond was remanded in custody while Lennon continued on conditional bail.
