A Boston terrier named Yogi was on his way to Christmas dinner with his owner Danny Thomason in the spring when Thomason stopped to get gas.
Thomason was refueling his car at 535 FM 1960, and he said he left his dog in the car when he went inside the store to pay.
“It was painful,” Thomason said. “It’s like one of my kids just got kidnapped.”
Thomason said he reviewed surveillance footage from the gas station, which confirmed his 5-year-old dog, Yogi, was stolen.
“I saw a dark Chevrolet truck driving next to me, and the guy got out and put Yogi in his car and drove off,” Thomason said.
But thanks to an investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Thomason and Yogi were reunited in tearful joy Monday.
The Pioneer Auto Theft Unit was investigating a dog theft from a car that occurred on Christmas Day. An intense investigation resulted in the dog’s location and recovery. The dog that was reunited with its owner cried tears of joy. This is the best community service. pic.twitter.com/Uz3HWTeQTt
