Boston police warn of drinks being infused into bars – CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – According to WBZ I-Team sources, there have been several reports of drug-containing beverages skyrocketing in the downtown Boston area recently.
Boston Police are currently warn everyone to be conscious of their cups while at local bars and clubs, citing that dangerous drugs – such as Rohypnol – can easily get into the drinks of unsuspecting victims. The medicine has no color or taste.

Some of the people we spoke to enjoying Thursday night said they keep in mind different ways to stay safe.

“You should never leave your drinks unattended; you should also go out with trusted friends and you should have a support system,” says Boston resident Dia Riegler.
“I would put my thumb on the beer or ask a friend to put it on top of the beer,” says Boston resident Jean Finnegan.

Boston Police say the drug can cause disorientation, confusion or unconsciousness and encourage people to get drinks directly from a waiter or bartender, always watching your drink and raising your hand. Hold a drink when you’re not looking.
