Boston Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in connection with an armed auto theft downtown this week.

The suspect was allegedly armed with a knife in the incident at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the 37 Merrimac St. area.

The man was wearing a black hoodie with a large white “Under Armor” logo across the chest, blue jeans, black and gray sneakers and a black backpack at the time of the car theft, police said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact District A-1 detectives at 617-343-4571.
