Boris Johnson will ‘spend some time with his family’ after his daughter is born to wife Carrie.

Prime Minister announced the birth of a daughter at a London hospital this morning.

His spokesman said he would continue to lead the country, so he would not be officially retiring from being a father.

A spokesperson also told the Mirror: ‘You can expect the Prime Minister to spend some time with his family.’

Announcing the new arrival, a spokesperson said: ‘Both mother and daughter are doing great. The couple would like to thank the amazing NHS maternity team for all their care and support. ‘

Environmental campaigner Ms. Johnson, 33, announced that she was expecting their second child at the end of July, in an Instagram post where she also talked about having a miscarriage earlier in the year. .

The birth of a sister to Wilfred comes the morning after the Prime Minister announced Britain was participating in a Plan B to combat the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

As well as facing Tory anger over the latest restrictions, Mr Johnson is battling the fallout of an alleged rule-breaking Christmas party last year that left a senior Government aide Allegra Stratton government had to resign.

Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer congratulated the couple on the arrival of their baby and added: ‘Wishing your family good health and happiness.’

The new arrival means Mr Johnson has at least seven children, although he frequently refuses to speak on the subject.
