Body of missing swimmer Alfred Williams found off Wildwood coast

The body of a teenager who went missing while swimming off the Jersey shore has been recovered, police said on Saturday.
Alfred Williams, 19, of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, went under the surf and never came up on Andrews Avenue Beach in Wildwood on Tuesday.
His body was found near Palm Road Beach in neighboring Wildwood Crest early Saturday morning, police said in a statement.
The regional court helps with the investigation.
Rescue workers responded to an emergency call for swimmers in distress shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday. When police arrived, they saw two swimmers fighting about 100 to 200 yards offshore, Wildwood Police said.
The fire brigade was able to reach and save the two swimmers. A third swimmer had made it to shore with help before rescuers arrived, police said.

But when firefighters made it back to the beach, they learned Williams was still missing. Firefighters got back into the water and began an “aggressive search” for him, along with members of the Coast Guard, the New Jersey State Police Marine Division, lifeguards and other local rescue organizations.
The rescue mission soon became a recovery mission.
One of the three swimmers treated at the scene was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police officers said.
